Well here we go, a new month.  It took me a while to decide what theme I would choose for this month. After much consideration, I decided that the "diptych" would be the new theme this month....What's a diptych? Well it's two versions of the same picture.  One that takes in the whole picture and the other a close up version of it. This should be fun.  I really would appreciate any comments or suggestions.  I'm hoping to be a little more creative with this one.  So any help I get from you, all the better.

On another note, I'm also having a little contest.  I'm looking for a special theme for the month of May.  I'll be taking suggestions from you and there will be a giveaway.  I'll be expanding on the giveaway in the next few days so stay tuned for more information...let me just give you a hint...it involves you and your family....So while I'm thinking up some great ideas for a giveaway, fill out the form here, leave your name and phone number as well as your suggestion for a theme. Cross your fingers....you may be the grand prize winner!

Now back to the diptych!

Love what you shoot!

Well, the last day of February...it's hard to believe that March is already here and spring is just around the corner.  It's been a wonderful month of pictures.  I've enjoyed the diptych and it has given me a more creative feel for my photography.  This last picture is more of a composite than a diptych...it's a little of both so it's a great segway to the next month of pictures.  For this next month, I've decided to make the composite the theme of the month.  It's going to be a tremendous challenge and I hope you stay with me and enjoy the ride.  With this theme, I'll give some tips and techniques on how to create composites.

Wow, it's almost over for the diptych, almost over for February, and hopefully...almost over for winter. I really love icicles, but I'll be happy to see them go.  But you get this last one.  Tomorrow for my last pic, I'll give you something different.  I'm also thinking hard about March themes....can you help me decide.  There's a lot out there....

What a beautiful thing to see...I love icicles....this one was amazing and there were drops falling from it.  You can see the drop...I know I made this a diptych by joining the one picture but I also wanted you to see the original photo 'cause it's so dang beautiful....enjoy!

So I'm experimenting with making papers and doing things a little different....I really love this pic  I changed the coloring and then used some of my homemade papers to do some framing and some stitching...lots of fun!  hope you enjoy this.

Here's another more abstract project.  I liked the pattern in a vase that I have on my counter so I thought I'd focus in on that alone...I also liked the copper color and the glitter.  I flattened the subject and then framed it....

And here I thought spring was coming....the canoe is peeking out and maybe, just maybe, spring will arrive soon....not!  I'm really going to miss the diptych....are you getting tired of it.  I'm now starting to think about March and what the theme should be.

So another snow pic!  Can you tell?  I took this one with al lot of shadow, increased the contrast, gave it some noise and turned it upside down.  voila!  my diptych.  I'm going to miss this theme.  It's been fun trying to think up new things to take pictures of. But I still have another week of fun things to photograph...see you all tomorrow.

I know, I'm sick of winter but it still can give you some of the most beautiful  pics. But I do have to say that I'm really looking forward to going out in my back yard and taking the pics in the spring and summer light. Pretty sure it will be beautiful too! haha!  So this diptych is a little different. I took two seperate pictures, manipulated them, used the same pic as a foggy background and combined the two pics on a 4x12 mount board.  Hope you like it....comments anyone?

I got pretty lucky today to get a glimpse of this little beauty.  I thought maybe it was a baby bluejay but I don't think so.  I'm not sure waht it is but it was pretty cute...I didn't get a chance to get any closer to it because of the thousands of feet of snow we have but heh, it's ok.  If you happen to know what it is, please let me know...

Lots of icicles built up this year...it was such a neat day out there that I thought I'd try to show how much we had. The diptych gives the effect that we have a porch with lots of icicles.  Very cool...they're so long!

Isn't he cute...this is Dozer...and yes, you're seeing double...not really.  But two of this guy would be just perfect.  Most well behaved 5-month old puppy I've ever met.  We had such a nice visit with him...St-Bernards are huge.  He didn't even mind the camera.

I was getting bored and decided to take a pic of the pile of cd's I have on the table. Then I took the picture and seperated in two (for the diptych) and started tearing it apart, changing the contrast, the colors and just generally playing with it until I decided I liked it.  So there you go...today's diptych.

I think this one could be more fun....I used some of my bubble glasses from Itala glassware and used colored water to get some great swirls. The problem is that it's too static....I'm going to try it again and re-post in a little bit....so wait for it and come back to see if I can make it any better.
Love what you shoot!

Check below this one ....   I added a new one that i like a lot better....

Hope you like this one better.

My Mom gave me these cups for Christmas a few years back.Yesterday, I had was thinking of her more than usual so I made myself a hot cup of cocoa with lots of milk...too late for coffee and had a long conversation with her on the phone. So while I was drinking and talking, I thought I'd take a few pictures of the cups to see what I could do to make it into a diptych...and voila!  hope you enjoy it.

So we're back home and finding things to photograph is becoming more of an artistic venture than anything else.  I'm enjoying the manipulation of 2 photographs in order to create something more artistic. The diptych is perfect for that.  Let me know what you think!
Enjoy what you shoot!

This is a shot I took on the last day of our trip from our hotel room window.   Can you tell that I've mirrored the building? There was such a sweet glow outside...probably smog but sweet none the less.  Have you tried your hand at a  diptych?   As you can see, there are many variations and really as long as you have 2 pictures, you have a diptych.

Today, we spent the day at the sportsman show in Toronto...we had a blast...I'm so tired.  The Direct Energy centre has this beautiful entrance full of windows letting in the morning light.  Two little sisters were playing there and I couldn't help myself.  So I clicked away. This diptych is about family.  These two were pretty cute...and I couldn't help adding the little brother when I caught him at the bow and arrow centre.  Hope you enjoy.

Any guesses on what this is....well, it's the hanging lamp in my kitchen. All this to say that interesting compositions can be achieved from very simple objects in your home.  Love what you shoot!

I know, I know...I'm taking a lot of pictures of me lately. My thought for today's picture was to get the stairs to do a cool design by inverting the picture...well, it was pretty boring on its own....so I added me to the pic. Don't you think it adds a little spark !!! lol.

So I'm starting to get  a handle on these diptychs...it's harder than it seems....Diptychs can mean different things...like a different version of the same thing, the same thing in a different color, something far away, something close up.  Two different objects sitting on the same chair but in two different pictures, the same picture in different lighting....the possibilities are endless.  So check out what I did today.  It's a lot fun...so love what you shoot!

ABOUT ME

After more than 20 years, I decided to spend some of my retirement time renewing an old interest.  I was a potter for 23 years and then gave it up when we moved. I sold my pottery studio, took a position as a bookstore manager and didn't look back.  Now, I'm retired and revisiting this creative outlet.
Since all my pieces are hand built, they are all one-of-a-kind.  They're a little crooked, a little rough around the edges, and a little cheeky.  I hope you love them as much as I love making them.
At Cheeky Little Pot, every piece is hand-built, glazed and kiln fired.  Food-safe glazes are used and all pieces are created to provide a lasting, hands-on feeling experience.  Prices are listed under each photo.
At this time, only e-transfers will be accepted.  Any shipping charges will be added to the price of the piece.
Please contact Jolene at jolenelizotte@outlook.com for more information. I can also be reached at 705-280-5666.

I hope you enjoy my bit of whimsy!  Take a peek, it's a lot of fun!
Thanks    ~Jolene
